If you keep up with all the fad diets out there, than I’m sure you have heard about detoxifying the body or Seasonal Cleansing. Here at The Get Real Plan, cleansing your body is a healthy combination of eating well and eliminating toxins. If you are thinking about trying a cleanse please do your homework because not all cleanses are created equal and therefore not recommended for all participants with more serious health conditions.

Starting tomorrow, March 1st, I am going to start my Spring Cleanse. Why? Great question: Overall, I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle and one of many ways to stay well is to eat wholesome, seasonal foods. Cleansing also gives me the opportunity to stop, reflect, and notice the postive changes of eliminating toxins, like processed foods and caffeine, to name a few.

So, please come back tomorrow and I’ll let you know how day 1 of 7 on my cleanse went. Thanks & stay tuned.

~Bryce

Hi there~

I am brand new at this blogging stuff. I know, you’re probably thinking, it is the year 2010! Keeping up with all these new techie tools is a full time job in itself. So, here I am. I’m a blogger and a Certified Wellness Coach, look out world, here I come!

The good news is that Spring is about one month away. When I think of Spring, I think of renewal. Everything green and lush again. Grant Park in Chicago starts budding with runners and daffodils.

In preparation for Spring, I have begun thinking about what I can do to renew myself. Spring cleaning isn’t just for homes anymore, there is so much we can do to refresh our bodies after several months of hibernation aka winter in Chicago. So, I am gearing up for a cleanse. What is a cleanse? The one I am speaking of is a 7 day gentle detox. I want to give my digestive system a restart or a chance to recharge itself. I will do this by eating raw and whole fruits, vegetables and whole grains. I plan to begin this cleanse on March 1. I will log all my daily findings and happenings here. Please check back with me to see how I am doing what I discover.

Thanks for reading. Until next time….

As the weather changes to colder days, most people begin to crave comfort foods. It’s normal and in fact, it’s your body’s way of telling you that you need to consume nourishing, warming foods. Think of the squirrels running around right now storing up their nuts in the ground for winter. Human beings are not so different! Our body needs warm foods for the cold months ahead. It’s a great time to focus on what is in season, as nature provides us with what we need. Root vegetables such as squash, sweet potatoes, yams, carrots and beets are perfect for this time of year. Warm broths and proteins also help to keep the body nourished and warm. It’s also important to keep moving, even though you might feel like curling up next to the fire for the next 4 months! Make sure to exercise and raise your body temperature. If you find it hard to get started, try something new, lika a Hot Yoga class - now that will keep you warm!
